Ice-strengthened ships
We have five incredible ice-strengthened ships for you to choose to travel onboard: Akademik Ioffe, Akademik Sergey Vavilov, Ocean Nova, Lyubov Orlova and Clipper Adventurer. These vessels are ideal for exploring the Antarctic Peninsula, the Falkland Islands and South Georgia.
Our ice-strengthened fleet has a lot to offer, each ship has its own advantages. All of them are perfectly suited to and equipped for the conditions we encounter on each voyage. Some offer more adventurous options, others a little more comfort. All of them offer great value. The choice is yours.
We aim to spend as much time off the ships as possible. Each ship carries a fleet of sturdy, inflatable Zodiac boats, and all passengers are able to disembark – swiftly, easily and safely. We normally break into small groups of people who share similar interests – you choose which group you’d like to go with on each outing.
Icebreaker ships
Our Icebreaker voyages depart from Ushuaia or Stanley in the Falklands, and compliment our ice-strengthened voyages perfectly. The extra-thick hull of the Kapitan Khlebnikov and the onboard helicopters allow access to Emperor penguins, the Weddell and Ross Seas, as well as some of the most spectacular and remote places on the continent! On our two longer expeditions we visit historic sites as we start to understand more of the hardships and conditions faced by explorers like Shackleton and Scott.
The Kapitan Khlebnikov also carries a fleet of sturdy Zodiacs and we will use these to explore on shore and beyond when conditions permit.
Our voyages aboard the Kapitan Khlebnikov are unique. The mix of our exceptionally experienced captains, crew and expedition staff with this incredible vessel, allows us to take you to places so remote they will be seen by just a privileged few.
ACROSS THE FLEET
Our ships are the perfect 'home base' for exploring the wilderness areas of the Antarctic. They move us quickly from bay to island to wildlife colony, and provide a warm and comfortable homecoming at the end of a day’s exploration to allow you to rest-up and get the most out of each day. All combine exploration with relaxation, comfort and adventure. The meals are excellent, the in-depth education programs are presented by world renowned experts and the accommodation is comfortable.
