Peregrine Adventures

Bill Davis (Antarctica)

Bill has led numerous expeditions in the polar regions and will return to lead several voyages this year. He is an astute observer of nature, science, and indigenous peoples.

Qualifications:
Bill has post-graduate qualifications in Environmental Management of the Polar Regions from the Scott polar Research Institute at Cambridge University. After living on his sailboat for five years he earned his 200-ton Captains certificate and spent several years delivering other peoples boats around the world. Since life below and above the water line are equally exciting, Bill holds a Scuba Dive Master Certificate and Private Pilot Certificate to fly Hot Air Balloons.

Achievements:
He's explored remote regions on all seven continents, sailed the oceans on private yachts and is a member of the Explorers Club and the American Polar Society. A keen believer in 'learning-through-osmosis', Bill shares insights gleaned from a decade of exploring the polar regions.

David McGonigal (Antarctica)

David is an award-winning travel writer and the author/editor of more than a dozen books. In 1997 he rode his motorcycle on the world’s first seven-continent motorcycle journey. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, David has lectured on Polar photography and has convened two courses on Polar regions for Sydney University.

Achievements:
He has completed around 30 journeys to the Antarctic Peninsula, Ross Sea, and the Northeast and Northwest Passages as leader, lecturer and photographer.

Lynn Woodworth (Antarctica)

Lynn Woodworth completed her PhD in genetic diversity within endangered species and she has a wealth of knowledge on wildlife, particularly mammal biology. Lynn’s first Antarctic voyage was in 1995 and she’s been there every year since in various roles including Assistant Expedition Leader, naturalist guide and wildlife lecturer. This year Lynn also worked with us in the Arctic.

Achievements:
Lynn and husband David McGonigal have recently published Antarctica the Complete Story the most comprehensive single book ever published on Antarctica.

Phil Rouget (Antarctica)

Originally born on a small rock in the Atlantic, Phil has spent the better part of his life jumping from country to country, living under a number of different aliases (ie, el Matador, Petit Cousteau, le Rojo Loco, and most recently Fishbone). Phil's tendency to daydream about everything but the task at hand naturally led him to a career in science. His research exploits have carried him everywhere from Alaska to Eastern Antarctica, working with seals, sea lions, orcas and various leviathans. Outside of the biological world, Phil enjoys scuba diving, mountain sports and seeking adventures in remote corners of the world.

Qualifications:
His profound love for the ocean, charismatic mega-fauna and afro-cuban rhythms, combined with his thirst for a deeper understanding of inter-species communication, led him to a BSC in marine biology and a graduate degree in marine mammal behaviour and underwater acoustics.

Achievements:
His travel experiences include being left for dead by his camel in the Sahara, dodging angry bulls in Pamplona, accidentally changing religion in a Fijian ceremony, experiencing the wrath of a box jellyfish sting in Thailand, and camping for a year on the Antarctic fast-ice to eavesdrop on Weddell seal pick-up lines.

David 'Dutch' Willmott (Antarctica)

Dutch has been with Peregrine for six years plying polar waters. He calls Melbourne, Australia home and has an insatiable appetite for travel, the ocean, exploring and adventure. After University he spent a year four wheel driving the beaches and deserts of Western Australia and has not stopped exploring since. He has sailed and raced yachts all over the world, including two Sydney to Hobart races. He has accumulated over 20 years boating experience.

Qualifications:
He gained a degree in Environmental Science in Australia.

Achievements:
Dutch cunningly translated obtaining his commercial skippers licence into a job on-board a luxury 100-foot yacht sailing around the south of France. Last year he rounded Cape Horn in “Spirit of Sydney”.
