Day 2 - Soweto and Apartheid Museum

    • Soweto is a cluster of townships on the south-western flank of Johannesburg that was created in the 1930s. We’ll visit former president Nelson Mandela’s humble former home in Orlando West - now a small museum housing photographs, memorabilia and some of Mandela’s artwork. We’ll also see the former houses of anti-apartheid leaders Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Walter Sisulu.
    • In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Apartheid Museum, the world’s foremost museum on 20th Century South Africa, at the heart of which lies the apartheid story.
