What to know


You do not need any real fitness for this safari besides the ability to get in and out of the safari vehicles.


Vaccinations may be required for this trip. Please talk to your doctor about the up-to-date information for this region.  We're travel experts, not doctors and defer to the medicos when it comes to inoculations.

Visas and Permits

Please ensure that you have all required visas for your trip – this is your responsibility. Rules and regulations governing the issuance of visas are constantly changing, and vary for different nationalities and you should check visa requirements with your travel agent or relevant consular authority well before travel.

South Africa
Australians, Americans, Canadians, British and New Zealanders do not currently require a visa for South Africa. Upon arrival you will be given a free three-month multi-entry visa stamp. For all other nationalities please reconfirm your visa requirements with your travel agent. Please note that you require six blank pages and your passport needs to have a minimum of six months validity to enter South Africa. Also note that to enter South Africa you may be required to show proof of onward travel plans and a valid yellow fever certificate (especially if entering or re-entering from East African countries or Zambia). A new immigration regulation will take effect from 1st October 2014, whereby parents will need to produce an original unabridged birth certificate if they are travelling with children. The new regulation has been put in place to protect children from being abducted, kidnapped and preventing child trafficking. The Department of Home Affairs has urged all parents to apply for unabridged certificates for their children. This is an requirement of the immigration regulation 6 (12)(a) for parents travelling with children. More information can be found here:

Our ground operator will collect and keep one copy of the key pages of your passport in the unlikely event of an emergency.

PLEASE NOTE: You are not accompanied by a Peregrine tour leader on this trip. Experienced English-speaking local wildlife guides will accompany you for the duration of your trip. In Victoria Falls you will be met by a representative and escorted to your included activities. A local guide will join you at Victoria Falls National Park and local specialist wildlife guides will escort you on your game drives in Chobe National Park.

The Cableway up to Table Mountain will be closed for annual maintenance for a month over July/August 2014. Please refer to their website for the most up to date information.

Please keep your luggage to a minimum. One small soft-sided bag plus a day pack (no more than 15-20kgs per person) is essential - No hard suitcases.

An arrival transfer is not included on this tour. Please make your own way to the joining hotel in Johannesburg. You will be departing for the Greater Kruger National Park at approximately 6:00am, so a pre-tour night's accommodation is recommended. Please ensure you do not book your departure flight out of Johannesburg International Airport (JNB) prior to 10.00pm. On arrival back at Johannesburg, you will be dropped off at the Peregrine hotel or airport.

Occasionally our itineraries are updated during the year to incorporate improvements deriving from past travellers' and local operator feedback. The information given in this itinerary may differ slightly to that in the brochure. It's imperative that you print and review a final copy of your itinerary a couple of days prior to travel, in case there have been changes that affect your plans.
