Uganda
The source of the Nile, an impenetrable forest, the legendary mountain gorilla, vast freshwater lakes: Uganda dishes up remote exotica well off the tourist map. Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park is a lush, quiet adventure where you see more hippos than humans, while trekking through Kibale Forest in search of chimpanzees feels a pioneering exploration of a beautiful land. And of course the mountain gorilla – Uganda has half the world’s population, and getting up close to these majestic creatures is an unforgettable, extraordinary privilege. A stunning country, packed with riches. No wonder Winston Churchill called Uganda the pearl of Africa.

George was just amazing - great, safe driver on the "interesting" African roads; had an excellent knowledge of the different species of wildlife, and was a great bloke too!
Uganda's Gorillas & Chimps

We had heard that the chimpanzees are pretty hard to see, high up in the fig trees. Well, we fluked our timing, and arrived at a chimp group at the same time as a female from another group. The forest around us erupted into a cacophony of chimp calls as chimps raced past us to where the new female was being beaten into submission. We could not keep up with the chimps, as we picked our way through the undergrowth, but the commotion was incredibly exciting to witness.
