Icebreaker Expeditions
Our
icebreaker voyages are unique, exploratory adventures aboard our two,
world-class icebreaker vessels. Travelling to both poles, these vessels have
the ability to take us places so remote they will be seen by just a privileged
few.
Onboard
helicopters carry us closer to historic sites and distinctive wildlife, and give
bird’s eye views of untouched frozen landscapes and the ship crashing through
the pack ice. A truly awesome way to experience the polar regions.
Camping ashore on the Antarctic ice is an unforgettable experience. We provide all the gear and you bring along a sense of adventure. It’s an optional activity on many of our voyages in Antarctica, and is included in the voyage fare.
This is available on the Circle Quest and Antarctic Explorer trip, weather permitting.
Visit the trip page for full details and prices.
We’ll take up to 16 paddlers per voyage to experience the icy waters in their most serene and tranquil state. If you have experience in paddling and are up for some nautical adventure, then be sure to reserve your spot at the time of booking your voyage. The kayaks, paddles, lifejackets, and drysuits are included, as are the services of a qualified kayak guide.
Please see the trip page for full details and pricing.
The departures later in the season are particularly suitable for people
interested in Antarctic marine mammals, specifically, seals and whales.
Across the Drake Passage, we’ll be on the lookout for the larger whale
species, like the fin and blue whale. In Antarctica we hope to see
large numbers of minke & humpback whales and also orca's.
