The Canadian Arctic offers a wilderness like no other. For centuries the region was host to explorers searching these icy waterways for the fabled Northwest Passage. Remnants of this fascinating history can be found in isolated locations, such as Beechey Island where you can hike to the grave markings of the ill-fated Franklin expedition. The region is also home to Inuit people who have lived in this harsh environment for centuries and, of course, to abundant wildlife including the majestic polar bear.
