Safety Information for Iceland
A security safe, controlled by the hotel manager, is available on the ship should you wish to deposit valuables for the duration of the trip.
Whilst travelling to gateway cities, the usual precautions using the safety deposit facilities in your hotels is highly recommended. A money-belt worn under your clothing is suggested. External 'bum bags' can be an advertisement that you are carrying valuables. Do not carry more cash than is required. Keep traveller’s cheque details separate from the cheques themselves and maintain a good record of your transactions.
Always take great care with your passport, airline tickets and monies
whilst travelling. Always clearly mark all your luggage with your name and address. Many suitcases look the same - consider marking yours with a distinctive coloured tape. We also suggest you use padlocks for your luggage and never leave baggage unattended in airports, or anywhere else for that matter. Occasionally luggage goes astray on airline flights - know how to properly describe your luggage, the colour, type, brand name, etc. to airlines if you are unfortunate enough to have this happen.
