Team Peregrine hit the trail for Oxfam

With only one more sleep until this year’s Oxfam Trailwalker event Team Peregrine are feeling a little anxious but oh so excited! We’ve been busy training with almost 300km under our belts over the past three months and numerous fundraising activities, including an office ping pong competition and a ‘guess how many Easter eggs in the jar’ challenge. So far we’ve raised $3500 for Oxfam but we are still striving for our goal of $6000 by the end of May.

My first thoughts when a colleague asked if I wanted to sign up was that 'it all sounds like a bit of fun, doesn’t it?' Until I did some research on the Trailwalker website and learnt some of the finer details. ‘Take on the ultimate team challenge: Tackle 100km of Australian bush within 48 hours as a team of four, and make a difference by raising funds to help overcome poverty and injustice around the world’. I quickly tried to back track but it was too late, the team was already chosen and registrations were open so we had to move quick!

It’s eye-opening spending so much time with three of your work-mates. Along the way during our training walks we’ve learnt that two of us get food-rage if we aren’t fed at regular intervals, we’ve heard the trials and tribulations of planning a wedding from hell and we’ve listened to life stories we might never have heard in the office!

It feels amazing to get behind the Oxfam cause. For me the fundraising has been the toughest part of taking part in Trailwalker but it will be what makes it all worth it in the end. So on that note, we'd love your help to reach our $6000 fundraising goal. For every $10 donated you'll go into the draw to win a trip to Vietnam. Peregrine's sister company, Gecko's, has provided the 11-day Reunification Express trip for two people in Vietnam for us to raffle off - thanks Gecko's!

So think of the four of us (and the other 749 participating teams!) as we start our 100km journey at 10am tomorrow! We need all the support we can get!
