• Why we love it: Nepal

It's time for another in our popular Why We Love It series. This time the focus is on Nepal. These blogs were all written by passionate Peregrine staffers who fell in love with a particular place around the world.

Step inside Nepal and discover the exotic, chaotic beauty:

  • French comfort food: The ultimate feast

When the temperature drops, the temptation to hibernate kicks in. Ugg boots, open fires, blankets, classic movies and a belly full of good food can be all it takes to convince you to stay indoors for the weekend.

Why not spend this weekend whipping up a feast of French comfort food. Start with a bowl of French onion soup topped with cheesy croutons and end with a light, fresh smoked salmon and basil tart.

Lock the doors and succumb to the aromas of simple French cooking this weekend.

  • Image of the week: Burma

Imagine going from utter darkness to watching the sun wash over thousands of temples in Burma, illuminating them before your very eyes. This is the Peregrine experience. And this is why you can't afford to miss the beauty of Burma.

Our image of the week is by our very own San Khoo.

  • Caught on film! Baby elephant takes first swim

Who doesn't love a baby elephant? They're saggy, baggy, floppy, funny little things that instantly make you go "Awwwww".

So imagine my delight while on safari in Botswana I saw a baby elephant taking (what we presumed was) his first swim. We'd seen loads of elephants over the previous week but I never grew tired of watching them. So big yet so graceful, so destructive yet so gentle; and always, always eating.

  • Packing tips for India

India is top of many people’s ‘must see’ list, a truly exotic and colourful country steeped in history. It’s the kind of place where you want to be gazing at the sights, not frantically searching the shops for eye drops!

I’ve put together a list of the essential items you should pack, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery, knowing you’ve got everything you’ll need.

  • A little look inside Provence

Between Bastille Day and Le Tour, France is really starting to get under our skin! The sunshine, the vineyards, the rolling green hills, the charming villages...and don't even get us started on the food.

If you're already feeling tempted to head over and see it for yourself, this blog will probably be the straw that broke the camel's back!

  • Top 5 attractions along Route 66

If you've seen Billy Connolly's new 6-part TV series, "Billy Connolly's Route 66" you'll no doubt be ready to feel the wind in your hair and the tarmac whizzing along under your tyres in the USA.

Connolly's a brilliant host, with a unique way of connecting with the locals. His journey starts in Chicago, where he revisits the bootlegging of the roaring 20s, rides to the top of America's tallest building and goes to the birthplace of rock 'n' roll.

  • Before the trek: Welcome to Kathmandu

“Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get” and needless to say, so is travel.

Once you set foot in that foreign land - anything can happen. It was like that when I first touched down in Kathmandu. It felt like utter chaos as I left the tranquility of the inner airport. I had been warned, but as a newbie traveller, I still was not prepared.

  • Image of the week: Prague

As the sun sets on another day in Prague, you can kick back and enjoy a world renowned, locally produced beer and spend the evening people-watching in the square.

Spend your days marvelling at Prague Castle, watching the Astronomical Clock tick over and munching on some hearty Czech cuisine.

Take our Splendours of Eastern Europe trip and experience the magic of Prague.
