    Safety information

Your safety is our top priority. It’s one of the main things we consider when designing and operating our trips. Here’s some of the ways we help to keep you safe, and a few of the things you can do to make your trip memorable for all the right reasons. Before you travel We monitor travel alerts provided by the Australian, UK, USA and Canadian governments on a daily basis. Before a tour goes on sale we assess any risks and decide how to reduce and manage these. If we determine that an entire trip, part of a trip or an activity is too risky we won’t do it. It’s as simple as that. If we can’t address the issues and improve conditions we might modify an itinerary, change the accommodation or even decide not to travel to a certain location. Our overseas staff and local leaders are trained to address any health and safety concerns during trips. Before you travel, we’ll give you an emergency phone number. You’ll also get comprehensive pre-departure information, with information about vaccinations and other relevant health issues. We’ll also tell you if there’s any special clothing or equipment you need to bring. During your trip: You local leader is trained in first aid and always carries a first aid kit. Being a local means that if something does go wrong they know fastest and most effective way to get help. We’ll also give you a 24-hour emergency number in addition to the emergency destination telephone number. What you can do: Read through all the information we send you. If you’ve got any questions we’re always available to help. Keep an eye out for travel alerts by consulting your local Foreign Office. We also monitor these daily so that we can modify tours if necessary. Get some medical travel advice about the countries you are visiting, particularly about vaccinations and the type of personal first aid kit you should carry. Make sure you tell us any medical conditions, special needs or dietary requirements you might have. Get your vaccinations and take relevant medication well before travelling so they have time to take effect.

This trip is not always the most comfortable but many magnificent highlights make up for the discomforts. The close-up views of Mt Everest are incredible. Travellers will also see how China is being transformed into a more developed economy as well as getting an appreciation of what life is like for the Tibetans under a Chinese government.

The best part of my trip was my guide Tommy. I found him to be one of the best guides I have had in my travels. His english is very good and he always took time for myself and the other guests to make sure we were well taken care of. He was always on time and went to great extent to make sure we all enjoyed out tour. I also found his knowledge of the different sites we saw to be excellent and I really enjoyed his choice of restaraunts. If it was not for Tommy I would have rated the trip much lower.

We had an enjoyable holiday. It was comprehensive and we felt we were provided with a valuable insight into the culture, particularly while travelling on public transport and eating at local restaurants. The food our tour leader selected was delicious. We enjoyed the atmosphere of a small group tour and would travel with Peregrine again.

Walking the Wall was an amazing experience, it was one of those things that you really have to see it in real life to fully appreciate it. The most surprising thing was the food, plenty of it and it was delicious. One personal thing was I would have liked more bottled water. It may have been my fault for not asking more and it soon made me learn to drink tea, so probably not a bad thing. But honestly can't really fault any of the trip but also I put that down to our tremendous tour leader Kevin Wang.

Langer Wong was an excellent guide. It was what made this trip so GREAT. He put in long hours to make sure we experienced not only the tourist spots but the real China and beyond. He listened to what we liked and tried his best to help us see it through his eyes. It was a well designed tour giving us a taste of different areas of China and cultures. China has certainly stepped up their tourist market and people were friendly and interesting. Please refer to "Changes to intinary" for first 3 days of this tour. Also,on our 4th day our group of 5 were joined by 8 more people who had already been touring Western China (Yunnan region). I felt we never really blended together as a group.Although Langer did his very best by orgainsing group dinners etc,I felt it was them and..us!(We had got use to our group of 5 and like wise them too).

We would like to highly praise Mark Lv our tour leader, he went out of his way to try and please us. He had a lot of patience as he had to deal with a younger person on the trip who was extremely rude to him. When he spoke to her she rarely looked at him and she continuously complained about him and Peregrine. In Beijing, [name removed] became ill at 2:00am in the morning and Mark took us to the nearest hospital and assisted with language interpretation and was with us till we returned to the hotel about 5:00am. We have nothing but praise for Mark. Also I had some sickness issues and once again Mark found a suitable pharmacy and interpreted my issues, they gave me the correct medication and was fully recovered the next day. Mark always ordered our side trips and shows for us in a professional manner, very easy to get on with and always willing to join us for meals or activities. Thank you for providing us with this wonderful guide and will always cherish our China trip.

Our guide, Annie, made me rank the tour excellent rather than good. We were a smalish group (11) which I guess made us easier to manage but everything just ran so smoothly. she said Peregrine had things organised or set up for her but she seemed to have drivers etc on time, us the travellers ready to go and all this with no fuss and this I believe is what most traveller want. For our family the information/history etc Annie gave us was about right, I presume Peregrine supply and train their staff in the countries history etc. Additional questions I believe were also all answered.
I had a Birthday on the trip, a very pleasant surprise to see Peregrine had bought a cake, was a very memorable evening for me (I blew the candles out at our table at the Xian Opera House) and the rest of the group got into the spirit of the evening as well. Warren

Hu Qin "Ching" was a good leader and we had an enjoyable time with her even though our ages were quite different. There were only 3 of us on the tour so we were able to perhaps be more flexible and spent most of our time together.
