Is this trip right for you?
Victoria Falls can look very different depending on what season you go. Before the rainy season – from October to November – the Falls can be virtually dry.
Our Independent Experiences have been designed for just one to three people, departing every day of the week for most Experiences. You can mix and match to create your perfect trip combination, then we’ll arrange the transport between each experience for you. You will have local guides at most destinations and activities. It’s independent travel without the stress.
This Independent Experience begins at Livingstone Airport, where you will be met by a Peregrine representative and transferred to your lodge (approximately 30 minutes). The afternoon will be free to spend at your leisure. Take a stroll around town named after the first European to look upon the falls, and book with local tour operators any optional activities that you’d like to do while you’re here. In addition to visiting the falls, there are many optional activities you can do in Livingstone to discover why the area is so deserving of its reputation as a centre of adventure. On the water you can canoe and kayak along the upper Zambezi, or white water raft on the river below the falls with some of the best rapids in the world. On land you can take morning and afternoon game drives or walks in the Zambezi National Park, home to some of Africa’s most iconic animals. For something a little more hair-raising there are rope-based activities around the gorge, or a canopy tour that provides spectacular views of the rapids, spray and Victoria Falls Bridge. If you want an even more incredible view, then maybe take a jaw-dropping helicopter flight over the falls and the Zambezi Gorges. Alternatively, a great range of curio and craft shops provide a pleasant distraction for those seeking a less vigorous kind of day. Your accommodation is a lodge overlooking the Zambezi River and Siloka Island – enjoy a sundowner to kick-start your Livingstone adventure.

There are no meals included on this day.
This morning you’ll feel the power of Victoria Falls and watch rainbows form in the delicate mists that drift hundreds of metres high over this seemingly endless cascade. You’ll take a guided tour of this magnificent site from the Livingstone (Zambia) side, with your guide collecting you from the hotel lobby and transferring you to the National Park gate (approximately 15 minutes). Once inside the park, your guide will take you through the falls area, stopping at vantage points along the way to tell you about the history of the falls and its surroundings: hundreds of miles away in northern Zambia a little spring wanders along the earth, eventually ending in over 1 million gallons of water torrenting down a 328-foot high drop a mile wide. In the evening you will enjoy a sunset cruise on the Upper Zambezi River. Your cruise will begin in the late afternoon with some game viewing, when you’ll keep an eye out for elephant, hippopotamus and the elusive white rhinoceros, all while cruising along the banks of the Zambezi and enjoying a light snack as the sun sets over the river.
Notes: The morning tour may be shared with other travellers. There are no guides on the sunset cruise. You will be collected from your hotel lobby and transferred to the dock, and returned after your cruise has finished. There will most likely be many other people on this sunset cruise as it is a very popular activity.
