Croatia's Dalmatian Coast
Split, a coastal city with a mountainous backdrop, has a vibrant history that dates back to the 3rd century AD, when the Roman Emperor Diocletian made it his home. We combine boat trips with walking, canoeing and cycling excursions to immerse ourselves in the fabric of the city and the nearby islands. Narrow cobblestone streets, charming piazzas, Gothic churches and secretive monasteries are some of the many surprises that await us at every turn. We enjoy unspoilt tranquility as we walk through small villages and vineyards to indulge in the culinary delights of the region – especially the delicious local seafood. Our final destination is the walled city of Dubrovnik, which maintains its place as one of Europe’s grandest cities – a melting-pot of medieval ambience and Gothic, Renaissance and Romanesque architecture set against the dazzling background of the Adriatic Sea.
