The Amazon Basin

Ecuador is home to some of the Amazon Basin’s most pristine rainforest, and exploring this wilderness – on foot, by canoe, or from atop canopy walkways and observation towers – is to tour a lush, dazzling world. Birdwatchers may think they’ve arrived in heaven: over 500 species have been recorded in the jungle east of Coca, while the sound of macaws and parakeets are often your companions. From your jungle lodge, trails lead you through primary rainforest, where giant butterflies, monkeys and sloths abound, while canoe trips get you up close and personal with caiman and piranha. Unforgettable, and unmissable.
