There’s really no good reason to visit Abyaneh, unless you want to wander up peaceful village streets, past charming ochre houses, friendly locals in beautiful traditional dress and a 14th century mosque, up to the town’s lookout, set amidst picturesque castle remains and giving views of a beautiful valley and the rugged Mount Karkas. Abyaneh is simply a timeless, idyllic spot, one of Iran’s most serene, whose architectural and cultural significance has rightly been recognised by UNESCO.
