Trebon stands among a world of woods and water – walking trails lead you through copses of ancient oak, along meadows, and past countless ponds – some miniscule, some lake-sized. Incredibly these ponds are man-made, a centuries-old transformation of marshland into a picturesque patchwork used for irrigation and fishing. Amidst Bohemia’s lakes stands Trebon, the region’s capital and a perfectly preserved medieval town. A quiet time-warp of a town, after wandering among the peaceful cobblestoned streets and past those ponds, there’s only one thing that remains for you to do – eat the local delicacy, freshly caught trout.
