The Rolexes might not be real in Chiang Mai, but it’s easy to otherwise quell the burn of any spare baht while bargaining at the city’s famous night bazaar. Perhaps the best nocturnal market in Thailand, the bazaar is a sensory treat of clothing, jewellery, antiques, handicrafts and modern consumer goods. And consume you will, amid the strains and cheap-speaker buzz of Thai classical music, and the friendly commercial air. Enjoy the delicious food from the roadside stalls and bargain hard. But not too much –the starting price might be half of what you should pay but already ridiculously cheap and vendor income is low.
