The School of St Jude for the orphans and very poor children of Arusha was founded by Australian woman Gemma Sisia on the belief that good and accessible education is a right for all children and that, without it, Africa's rate of development will continue to lag. 'Fighting Poverty through Education', the school provides a totally free education to over 90% of the pupils, including transport, uniforms, stationery, snacks, water and hot meals. Touring the school you’ll learn how Western and Tanzanian teaching methods combine to help the kids achieve their potential. Have lunch with these bright kids and it’s hard not to be touched by their optimism and drive. And to put things into perspective.
