What more can be said about the Grand Canyon? Describing this phenomenal example of Mother Nature is beyond words. Even photos don't do it justice. This gaping, yawning hole in the earth's surface stretches 446 kilometres long, up to 29 kilometres wide and up to 1.6 kilometres deep. Over 6 million years, the Colorado River has cut deeper and deeper into the layer of rocks, which change colour by the second as the sun moves across the sky to produce one of earth's most extravagant shadow and light shows.
