Isalo National Park

A morning hike makes the stunning, surreal Isalo National Park one of Madagascar’s wildlife safari treats.  Ringtail lemurs leap through the trees while you wander up the deep, forested canyons and on through some of the most beautiful landscape in the world; the Canyon of Lemurs is but one that cuts through the golden plains and wind-blown sandstone sculpture of the striking Isalo massif. Atop the plateau, you’ll wander between the other-worldly formations before coming across the waterfall-fed oasis of Piscine Naturelle, a natural cleft and boulder-fringed swimming pool.  A swim here is as refreshing as post-hike swims get and, alongside a sunset framed by the rock window of La Fenetre, makes Madagascar ever more the wild country paradise of legend.
