M’goun Valley's Berber villages

Morocco is one of the world’s great walking destinations, and the chief reason is the Atlas Mountains. Home to the country’s highest peaks and many a gruelling multi-day trek, one of the on-foot pleasures here, however, is to walk the valleys and the foothills. Here, you wander through not only beautiful, unspoilt landscapes, but also get a feel for how life is lived in these remote reaches. The valleys here are by turns barren then abundant, hardy and hospitable Berber villages bringing the parched earth to life. Rivers flow down from the sparse plateaus, forming imposing canyons, while the folds of the high mountains form a spectacular backdrop. To complete the experience, overnight with a Berber family, giving you a unique insight into their fascinating lives.
