Mesa Verde National Park, and Anasazi cliff dwellings

Fourteen centuries of history are on display at Mesa Verde National Park. Though the cliff dwellings are a little crumbly in places, you can easily picture life for the Ancestral Pueblo Indian who made their homes here over 800 years ago. Perched high in Southwest Colorado, you can climb steep ladders and crawl through tunnels to visit many of the dwellings, where ceilings are still blackened by hearth smoke. Mesa Verde is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Park and the first national park set aside to preserve the works of humankind.
