Where the Chobe National Park’s plains reach the Okavanga Delta, Moremi Game Reserve is a diverse world of outstanding land- and waterscapes, and offers some of southern Africa’s finest wildlife spotting opportunities. Make like the locals – mainly zebra, Cape buffalo, wildebeest, impala and hippos – and avoid the midday sun. Sunrise and the late afternoon is the time the animals are is active here, and a safari drive then is magical – look out for scores of birds around the waterways, and crocodiles nearby. Keep your camera poised for giraffes and baboons among the mopane woodlands, and your fingers crossed for a sighting of one of the big cats that stalk the land here – cheetahs, leopards and lions.
