Nubean Aswan

A great, easygoing punctuation mark separating the Nile’s fertile lower plains from the more ragged, rugged earth to the south, Aswan’s gentle charms reveal themselves best to the curious, lingering traveller. Take your cue from the river and keep to a slow pace: stroll the riverside corniche, sip a mint tea or karkadai and take in the Nile at its most magical. Felucca sailboats gliding into port, negotiating the granite-and-palm islands that stud the great river, all under the setting copper sun, is a scene worthy of a Canaletto.
