Pagan's thousands of temples

By a bend in the Irrawaddy River the vast plain of Pagan (Bagan) is covered in thousands of Buddhist temples and stupas in a timeless scene best travelled through by horse and cart.  You’ll rollick from one to the next with an amiable local at the reigns and at a pace well suited to spiritual contemplation. But it’s when at sunset or sunrise you climb the steps of one temple and look over the radiant array of the other three thousand that the beauty and meditative nature of Pagan is most apparent.
