Remote Irkeshtam Pass

One of the world’s most remote border crossings, the Irkeshtam Pass from Kyrgyzstan to China not only takes in imposing snowy peaks and pristine mountain meadows, but some of the most bone-shattering hops and stony ruts in all Central Asia.  The pass is rarely taken, ‘poor condition’ being a dry, almost hopeful assessment of the road, but the spectacular scenic rewards far out weigh a few hours of discomfort; breathtaking natural landscapes of such magnitude are rarely found without a strong spirit of adventure and the Irkeshtam Pass will not disappoint.
