Seals and seabirds of the Beagle Channel

Seals and seabirds of the Beagle Channel

“Many glaciers beryl blue most beautiful contrasted with snow”, Darwin wrote on seeing this majestic part of the world. Equally striking is the wildlife seen when steaming through the Beagle Channel section of Tierra del Fuego National Park: birds such as albatross, sheathbills, cormorants and penguins are common, the Andean Condor often makes an appearance, as do sea lions and seals. Whatever animals you see, sailing to the end of the world is a wild, romantic experience: ice-clear waters fringed by forest with snowy peaks a backdrop; the channel dotted with rocky outcrops home to wildlife, beaches, ancient shipwrecks and lighthouses.
