And that’s not an optimistic way of describing viewing lions from afar, or catching sight of one through your binoculars. We mean walk with lions. Side by side. Roaming the savannah for a couple of hours with the king of the jungle. Not just an incredible adventure for visitors, Antelope Park’s lion programme is also a vital conservation project. Exhilaration replaces trepidation as you, the lion cubs and your ranger take to the trail, padding along the African plains. You might even get an up close and personal view of the cubs practising their stalking skills. To be so near these magnificent animals is a rare and enormous privilege; to watch the young learning about their world a unique opportunity not to be missed. Utterly unlike anything you’ve done, or will ever do again, this is one great big exclamation mark of an experience.
