The wine-growing region of Cederberg Mountains

Little discovered, stunningly beautiful – Cederberg is the perfect combination. A mountain range of red sandstone ridges and pinnacles, the stark arid summits run down into a fertile landscape of Rooibus tea plantations and South Africa’s highest vineyards. The harsh cliffs and mountain trails are hallowed ground for climbers and bikers, but adopting a gentler pace is just as rewarding: the Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz around these parts are serial award-winners, and a seat facing the hills, glass in hand, is a great way to spend an afternoon.
