Mountains, Forts & the Taj (Family) 13 days

Mountains Forts & Taj

We begin our travels in the hustle and bustle of colourful Kathmandu before taking a spectacular flight alongside the Himalayan range to the lakeside town of Pokhara. After exploring the area and taking a trip to Sarangkot to view the sunrise over the Annapurna mountains, we continue with an exciting safari at Royal Chitwan National Park in southern Nepal, where we ride on elephant back in search of rhino and tiger. We then fly to the Indian capital, New Delhi, and head to the magnificent Taj Mahal and the famous Agra Fort. The beauty of the Mughal architecture in Rajasthan is showcased at our next stop, Jaipur. Exploring the ‘Pink City’ we immerse ourselves in bustling and colourful local markets and discover the famous Palace of the Winds as well as the impressive Amber Fort. The final leg of our journey takes us back to New Delhi, where we end our amazing adventure.

The most memorable part of the trip was the fact that we were off the beaten track for most of our trek. It was so great waking up to a different mountain views each day, and then walking along paths without passing other trekkers. I'm so pleased I did the Annapurna Dhaulagiri trek rather than one of the main trails. It was also fantastic to walk through the little villages, observing daily farming life and having brief encounters with the locals.

Just go. The mountains are more impressive than you can imagine. The views are spectacular and so varied every day of the trek. The locals are friendly and welcoming and the lodges, whilst basic are really comfortable considering your location. Make sure you do some training - there's a lot of walking up and down, but it's not beyond most people.

Don't overpack, you tend to wear clothes for multiple days  Cleaning ie showers available almost every day in some form.
