India

India

Journey north from Kerala’s lush world, where limpid waters forge through corridors of lush green overhangs and paddy fields, to Ladakh, with its stunning windswept high plateaus and peaks, and it’s hard to believe you’re in the same continent, let alone country. But that’s India: infinitely varied and reliable in its capacity to surprise and delight. The clichés are true – the chaotic downtown of Delhi, the beautiful splashes of colour that saris brings, the atmospheric rattling trains. And the big sights are popular for a reason: the Taj Mahal and Udaipur may well be respectively the most romantic building and city in the world. But India’s hidden heart is also a must – time spent among welcoming villagers, indulging in their renowned cuisine, is a highlight of any trip, and exploring trails in search of the elusive tiger is a memorable thrill. Come revel in India’s glory. One billion people can’t be wrong.

I really enjoyed the trip and the accommodation, apart from Hotel la Suite in Delhi.  This hotel was comfortable but the absence of a restaurant, bar, bar facilities and even a proper breakfast area detracted significantly from our enjoyment of the stay.  Thanks!
