Classical Egypt
In Cairo, unravel the complexity of dynastic Egypt and the world’s most awe-inspiring ancient civilisation with a visit to Memphis, the necropolis of Saqqara, the first step-pyramid and the outstanding Old Kingdom tombs. Explore the magnificent Egyptian Museum, the great pyramids and Sphinx, before arriving in ancient Thebes (Luxor) to see Karnak Temple, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the splendid royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Cruise south along the Nile to Aswan, visit Edfu Temple, the lovely ruined temple at Komombo and enjoy the charming Temple of Isis, before an optional visit to Abu Simbel. Back in Cairo, wander along the labyrinthine streets of the medieval city and discover the Gayer-Anderson Museum, the Mosque of Ibn Tulun and the celebrated Khan al-Khalili Bazaar. This is a classic trip through classical Egypt.

Classical Egypt had an excellent range of included and optional activities to give travellers a good insight into the culture, the history and the people of Egypt.

My Classical Egypt experience was fantastic as was our leader Hassaan Mostafa. He was probably the best guide I have ever had, knowledgeable of the subject, efficient and caring. He rang me a few times after I had left the group to make sure I was OK. All the arrangements were perfect. I was not so impressed with the Independent Alexandria experience...the hotel had no info about the city,no maps, and the guide who didn't even know my name was with me for less than two hours and was not interested in what I might be doing for the rest of my "three days". But I would certainly do Egypt again and recommend it.
