Morocco is a land of delicious contrasts, boasting ancient ruins, remote mountain villages and shifting Saharan sands. Add walled cities, towering mosques, bustling bazaars and welcoming people and you’ve got the perfect recipe for exploration. From Tangiers we head to the blue hued town of Chefchaouen – the hidden gem of the Rif Mountains. Next, the vibrant, exotic imperial city gems of Morocco. In the marvellous medina of Fes we discover tantalising tagines, buttery pastries, sweet mint tea and numerous other tasty treats. At the edge of the Sahara we ride camels through the desert at sunset and spend the night under a blanket of stars. We wend our way back towards Marrakech, travelling through the sleepy, picturesque villages of Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley before driving through the High Atlas Mountains. The 1000-year-old ochre-stained city of Marrakech is a delight of sights, sounds, shadows and snake-charmers – this grand conclusion to our journey will linger long in the memory.
