Morocco
It’s 13 short kilometres to Morocco’s northern tip from Spain, yet the Straits of Gibraltar separates a world of differences. Morocco’s names alone conjure vivid images of exotic landscapes and people: the road of a thousand Kasbahs; Essaouira’s medina; Marrakech’s Djemaa el Fna, Saharan camps and Volubilis. The imperial cities of Marrakech, Fes and Meknes are a striking collection of dizzying medinas, incense-scented souks and sublime Islamic architecture. And it’s not just about taking in great sights – Morocco is a country that invites you to get involved. Soak up the unique atmosphere of a hammam; journey into the desert to sleep under Saharan stars; walk through remote landscapes with Berbers – every corner of this country holds a treasure waiting to be shared.

Highlights of Morocco

Go for it. Once you are out of the cities Morocco is like being perpetually on a movie set for a biblical film. Make sure you are aware that there is a possibility of 2 nights on the floor of a dormitory in the Berber Village. Make sure you have a torch for the desert. I found a head lamp worked very well, especially when using the squat toilet.

"I would like to commend our tour guide Atiqa and the driver Abdou. To say they were excellent would not be sufficient praise. They were an integral part to our enjoyment of this bus tour."
