Day 1 - Las Vegas - Zion National Park

    • Your tour starts at 7:30am at our gateway hotel in Las Vegas. As this is an early start we recommend booking a night's pre-tour accommodation at this hotel, which can be arranged when you book the tour.
    • After leaving Las Vegas, you'll drive northeast through the Mojave Desert into the State of Utah and our destination - Zion National Park.
    • Zion Canyon was named by the early Mormon settlers of Utah who thought of it as their ‘promised land’. Some of the best hiking in this desert terrain of southwest USA can be found here in and around the fertile Virgin River Gorge.
    • With an early arrival today and two nights here, you will have plenty of time to explore. /you'll stetch our legs on the Virgin River walk, which is a leisure stroll on a flat, paved path.
    • (Walking time: approximately 2-2½ hours)
    Alexis Park or similar

Day 2 - Zion National Park

    • You will have a full day to further explore the delights of Zion National Park. In this park there are a variety of hikes to chose from, ranging from easy to strenuous ones.
    • On your designated walk, you will ride the free shuttle to the Grotto Shuttle stop where the trail starts at the bridge crossing the Virgin River. An incredible view will greet us after an 8km (5 miles) hike round trip hike (including a lunch stop at the viewpoint) up the massive rock, rising 760 metres (2500 feet) from the canyon floor directly in front of us. This is Angels Landing, a challenging option that offers unbeatable panoramic views. In getting to the top we achieve an elevation of 453 metres (1488 ft).
    • (Walking time: approximately 5 hours including lunch stop)
    • Most of the way you will be walking on a paved path, but on the last ½ mile (0.8 km) each way you'll follow a steep, narrow and exposed ridge that includes long drop-offs. Those of you who at least reach Scout’s Lookout (end of paved section) will also be rewarded with brilliant views.
    • You'll follow the same trail back and there is an option to extend your walk and continue on to view the magical Emerald Pools, on a path down to the car park. This is one of many short, but beautiful trails heading to the valley floor. If weather conditions permit, you may choose to hike deep into the Zion Narrows. Those choosing not to trek can partake in some optional horse riding.
    Pioneer Lodge Zion or similar

Day 3 - Bryce Canyon National Park

    • Driving out of Zion National Park you will climb in elevation to almost 2438 metres (8000 feet) and traverse a high plateau to Bryce Canyon National Park. Bryce Canyon is a fascinating natural amphitheatre of pink, orange and white sandstone spires, known locally as ‘hoodoos’. There are a variety of scenic overlooks and trails that range from easy to moderate in difficulty.
    • In the morning you will walk on the Rim Trail from Bryce Point to Sunset Point. This gives you a chance to remain on the rim and photograph the ever-changing shadows and hues as the sun makes its way across the wide-open sky. (Walking time: approximately 2 hours)
    • In the afternoon you can partake in a walk on the Queens Garden Trail and come back via the Navajo Loop Trail. On this walk you will follow an earth path that can be undulating, but extremely beautiful, taking you right in amongst the unique rock formations. (Walking time: approximately 2 hours)
BW Bryce Grand Hotel or similar

Day 4-5 - Arches National Park - Moab

    • You will stop to visit Goblin Valley today.
    • Arches National Park is located just a few kilometres outside the town of Moab, Utah. Stunning red sandstone arches have been created by a million years of wind whipping down the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. The park offers leisurely hikes through spectacular sandstone landscapes with colourful names like the Devil's Garden. Many of the incredible arches are known by descriptive names such as Landscape Arch and the famous Delicate Arch.
    • You will embark on the Devils Garden Trail that takes you to Tunnel Arch, Pine Tree Arch, Primitive Trail, Private Arch, Double O Arch, Navajo Arch, Partition Arch and Landscape Arch. This is a 6.75 km (4.2 miles) round trip is undulating with many short elevation changes, rocky footing and some exposure to heights. Short side trips are required to view Navajo and Partition Arches. (Walking time: approximately 3-3½ hours)
    • You will tend to stop around midday as it can be very hot around this time. In the afternoon you will head off for a walk on the Windows Section Trail that covers Cove of Arches, Double Arch, North Window, South Window and Turret Arch. This is an easy to follow flat trail on a sandy, dirt track. (Walking time: approximately 1½ hours)
    • There is an option to further extend your route. You can take a sunset drive up to Delicate Arch for that classic arch photo!
    • You will have a full free day to enjoy some further optional hikes. Alternatively some of you may choose to spend the afternoon ‘off the trail’ by floating on the nearby Colorado River or experiencing the charms of Moab - the small eclectic town that serves as the gateway to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
    BW Greenwell or similar

    Day 6 - Monument Valley

    • Today you will travel southeast on to the Navajo Nation's greatest treasure - Monument Valley, which is sacred land to those who call it home. The red sandstone monoliths have been the backdrop to countless 'westerns’ featuring cowboys riding off into the sunset.
    • After preparing camp we set out on a spectacular, back-country 4WD tour deep into the heart of the valley.
    • After stops to photograph both the famous and lesser-known sights in the park, you will come to the 'end of the road'. Your local Navajo guide will then lead you even deeper into the park to a trail's end and you will visit places that very few non-Native Americans ever get to go to as you enjoy an easy walk out in the desert. (Walking time: approximately 2 hours)
    • You will finish your day with yet another unforgettable sunset in the valley.
Kayenta Mon Val Inn or similar

Day 7 - Grand Canyon National Park

    • On to Grand Canyon National Park, one of those rare places that no one yet has adequately described, painted or photographed in its entirety. This incredible spectacle is difficult to comprehend, even as you stand at the rim or hike down into the canyon. Carved over several millennia, this massive wonder of nature is 445 kilometres (277 miles) long, up to 29 kilometres (18 miles) wide and over 1.6 kilometres (1 mile) deep. Snaking through the canyon floor is the mighty Colorado River, which runs 2330 kilometres (1450 miles) through seven US states and two Mexican states.
    • You will watch the sunset on the first night and attempt to comprehend this canyon’s staggering dimensions and power.
    • There are many walks that you can enjoy ranging from easy walks to moderate ones, as well as the park ranger's guided nature walk or you may just wish to sit in quiet contemplation on the edge of this natural wonder.
    • In your free time, we highly recommend a scenic flight over the canyon, which offer perspectives that you cannot see by just visiting on foot.
    • Today you'll enjoy a Rim Trail walk of the canyon. It offers a very different, but overwhelmingly grand view of the canyon (walking time: approximately 3-4 hours).
Canyon Plaza Grand Canyon or similar

    Day 8-9 - Havasupai Village

    • Drive to Hualapai Hilltop and then hike down to your accommodation at Havasupai Village (approximately 9 miles/4-5 hours). Please note you will be required to carry your luggage on this hike so we suggest you pack light! Alternatively you can leave your main bag behind and pick it up later.
    • This afternoon perhaps take a leisurely hike to the waterfalls.
    • Your accommodation for these nights is in twin share rooms although the lodge is very basic with limited services.
    • The following day is free to swim at the falls or alternatively take a walk through slot canyons, and across the Colorado River (approximately 10 miles each way). The scenery on this walk is absolutely stunning although it is a more difficult hike involving some scrambling.
Canyon Plaza Grand Canyon or similar

    Day 10 - Las Vegas

    • From Grand Canyon you will complete your journey by travelling back to Las Vegas, Nevada. Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of North America – home to pirates and pyramids, weddings and waterfalls. If it is gambling you want, you have come to the right place! Nowhere else in the world will you find as many casinos, clubs and all-you-can-eat buffets.
    • Your tour concludes upon arrival at the gateway hotel between 5pm and 6pm. Optional post-tour accommodation is available at the gateway hotel. Please inquire when booking your tour. If you are planning to fly out of Las Vegas tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 9pm (21:00 hrs).
