Iguazu Falls Extension

Iguazu Falls Extension

UNESCO World Heritage-listed IguaƧu Falls

Trip rating

'Poor Niagara!' exclaimed Eleanor Roosevelt when she first set eyes on Iguazu Falls. The result of a volcanic eruption, Iguazu has the greatest average annual flow of any waterfall in the world. Consisting of 275 separate falls along a stretch of 2.7 kilometres, the water cascading over the edge has a surface area of around 40 hectares. Taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide, there’s no wonder Mrs Roosevelt expressed her sympathy.

    Why we love it

    • The spectacular Iguazu Falls are situated on the border of Argentina and Brazil and are a real highlight of any visit to this area of South America.
    • The waterfalls consist of 275 separate falls and are surrounded by lush, tropical vegetation and national parks.
    • The falls are the largest in the world by volume, and are higher than Niagara Falls.
    • On our trip to Iguazu you will witness this awesome sight from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides of the falls and it will be up to you to decide which view is the more spectacular.

Day 1 - Arrive Puerto Iguazu

    • Arrive Iguazu and take your complimentary transfer to the joining hotel.
    • Your tour will begin at 1pm with a half day tour of the Brazilian National Park. You will meet your guide at the hotel before enjoying the tour, which will take you to see some of the most panoramic views of the falls. Iguaza Falls are two kilometres in length, and made up of 275 falls in total, some of which stretch up to 80 metres high. This makes them both higher than Niagra and wider than Victoria Falls.
    • You will walk an easy one kilmometre to reach the Canyon of the Devil's Throat.
    • If you wish, you can go on an optional visit to the bird park, or take a breathtaking helicopter ride over the falls in your spare time after the tour. The Evening will be free to relax in town.

The Iguazu Falls extension was amazing and being able to see the falls from both the Argentinean and Brazillian side was spectacular.  This three day extension gave us enough time to fully experience the falls and the local area.  It was a much better option than a fleeting option of a day.

Enjoy the experience, soak up every moment, it is something you will not soon forget.
