Peru
Images of Peru: Nazca Lines from the air, condors wheeling over Colca Canyon, glorious Machu Picchu. Classic icons set in a rugged land. Some visitors are surprised, then, to encounter some of the Amazon’s richest jungle experiences are here too: the macaws and parrots gathering around a clay lick is as joyously colourful a sight, as wildly cacophonous a treat, as any Incan market in Cusco or Pisac. Elsewhere, the islands dotting vast Lake Titicaca – absurdly clear light, impossibly high altitude, lost-in-time cultures – are unforgettable, and the Inca Trail, a tough, rugged, inspiring trek, is one of the world’s great walks. Or head north, to trek in Peru’s northern Cordillera, the highest tropical mountains in the world, where solitary splendour and widescreen panoramas await.

Be prepared for the altitude and the' water'. Don't do too much on the first day in Cusco, you need to rest and get used to the altitude.
Inca Trek

The Machu Picchu trek was fantastic; comfortable walking pace and distance, amazing views, wonderful campistes, ridiculously large amounts of very tasty foods and the best service anyone could imagine on a trek. Loved Machu Picchu; the views were worth the walk and the slipping on the many stairs and even the torrential rain over "dead woman's pass". Would do it all again!
