Inca Adventure
Keith - United Kingdom, 9 Apr, 2012
I had heard and read a lot about Peru, and having been on another trip with Peregrine I was in no doubt that it would be the journey of a lifetime. However, the entire experience far exceeded my expectations. What I saw was stunning, the organisation was faultless, accommodation and transport excellent and our host and the local guides delightful.

Some people very disappointed that the days of the tour were not all actually on the boat.....thus travelling time Personally we knew that, and think 8 days is a good time on the cruise. The boat travelling at night was great, enabling us to be at the next destination each morning. Staff were great and as they were on duty they slept during the day and the crew we were involved with could not do enough .Very professionally run and we felt safe.

Aleks was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and whatever we asked him; he knew the answer. We did some good off-itinerary things too - eg animal sanctuary in the Sacred Valley, luthier's workshop in Cusco.

The 17 day trip is really only 15, with meeting the night before ( day one!) and the trip ending the night before at dinner (day 16!). The changes necessary due to weather (mud) were very informative and good (to Moray and Maras). Aleks ( or "boss") found another "outlet" for the gifts for kids we brought, the Uros Island school instead of the Cusco Challenge. All in all a great trip and much easier on me than my own planning, booking, driving etc would have been. The leader and other group participants really made the trip what it was, and there is no planning for that!

60, female and traveling on my own, this experience with Peregrine was fantastic. There were a couple of other singles. Our Tour Leader Alex, was brilliant and while in Cusco arranged dinner in restaurants each night, which meant never really on my own.
Our Tour Guides were a credit to Peregrine.

A very busy trip, loved the early starts and relaxed evenings. So much information given by the day guides that summary notes to take away at the end of each excursion would have been good and maybe stop some confusion and the spread of misinformation, it was surprising what group members would come up with afterwards from half listening!!(and sometimes funny)

Interesting places visited with excellent, knowledgeable guides. Hotels generally ok but one in Arequipa which was not the usual one was on a very noisy street[this was because we had an extra day there due to road block] and so that we didn't have to move hotels again. Tour guide Fiorella had to organize extra flights at short notice with many changes to plans which she presented well. She also took us to interesting Alpaca wool/processing/garment shops and silver manufacturer. Inca trail good- excellent food but mattresses could be better and gas lamp or some light in tent to help with early starts would be useful. Great guide for Inca trail, only spoilt by awful toilet facilities- we know you cant have 5* on top of a mountain but they do need to improve these. Overall a very interesting tour with historical and environmental areas well presented.

The trip was a fantastic experience. Belge was an amazing tour leader. She was caring and extremely helpful beyond normal expectations. Both my husband and I became sick and she had to organise doctors on two occasions and also accompanied us to the pharmacy to ensure we could get the scripts filled correctly. Beyond the personal assistance she was very organsied and the whole trip went without a hitch. We had a fantastic group and a lot was due to Belges leadership. The tour guides were also very good. The only downside was the hotel in Machu Piccu. The service and standard was well below Peregrine standards.

Put simply, this trip is a must do. The organisation was top drawer, the leader second to none, and the accomodation/food excellent. Regardless of what you know about the Galapagos and it's inhabitants, you are in the hands of a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team who will ensure you come away enriched in every sense.

It was ashame that due to protests we missed the Nazca area and the scenic trip by bus.Arequipa was lovely but not too happy about the change in hotel we should have made our feelings known to the tour leader. The guide on the Inca trek was very passionate about the cultural history which we found interesting and the trek was amazing and kept me challenged. We were very impressed with the driving skill shown in the trip to colca canyon our driver was the best.

We booked this holiday because we were looking for a group experience. We were disappointed to learn the group consisted of the two of us. There were several times we met up with a couple from New Zealand (also booked iin with Peregrien)in spite of going to the same places we usually ended up in different vans with different local tour guides. This seems really inefficient.

my only quibble--we landed at airport in Galapagos, we were taken straight to a hike, it would have been hepful to have 30 minutes to change, put on sunblock, etc. Otherwise trip was absolutely fabulous, guide Fabian and crew of San Jose were wonderful, had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back.

The trip was very well organised. The Inora Hotel was very comfortable and located in a very pleasant spot but it is a bit far out of town. Perhaps an eye should be kept out for any new hotels of the same standard closer into town.

Had a fabulous time. Tour guides we had in Ecuador and Peru were fabulous.Very knowledgable and helpful. Would have enjoyed more time in the Lake District in Chile and towns like Bariloche to allow for a bit of time to unwind. Could have excluded Bolivia altogether as a two day stopover and midnight flights made it quite a tiresome visit to a country that offers much the same as Peru and Ecuador . A two-day city visit does not give you a real sense of life in Bolivia. Was a bit surprised at being charged U$ 100.00 departure tax at Buenos Aires airport between flights on our way home from Rio to Sydney when we spent a total of two hours at the airport between flights. Hotels for the most were fine. Were told that as a married couple we needed to have booked a 'marital' bedroom if we didn't want single beds all the way through our trip. The Amazon Jungle Lodge was by far the best accommodation experience of the trip. All in all a worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

A well organised trip to an exciting destination. The people we met from the guides to the locals, without exception were very friendly. A relatively safe destination with the usual precautions. Definitely do the flights over Nazca and don't be put off by warnings. They are very safe and professional.
An amazing variety of stunning landscapes.
Learn a little Spanish, it goes a long way.

The tour leaders Jhon Smith Garcia Marquez (PE) and Gonzalo Jiminez (BO) were both excellent. They were caring, friendly, considerate, knowledgeable and both protected and looked after us and challenged us to extend our experiences into the life and culture of these two countries. Their choices of guides and drivers were superb and we not only enjoyed the experiences but also learned so much.
