Vietnam Experience
This journey takes you off the beaten track in Vietnam. Starting in the capital, Hanoi, and finishing in bustling Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), this adventurous trip takes in the scenic highlights of both the north and the south. It gives you the chance to travel in beautiful hill country, visiting colourful minority groups, as well as cruise around beautiful Halong Bay. You experience the splendours of the Mai Chau and Tam Coc regions in the north of Vietnam and also spend time in the historic towns of Hue and Hoi An.
You can also end your Vietnam experience two days later and visit the bustling and colourful Mekong Delta. See 'Itinerary Variation' in the Detailed Itinerary for further information.

| 6 | Trek in Cat Ba Island National Park, then boat cruise and overnight on Halong Bay. |
| 7-8 | Free time in Hanoi, optional water puppet performance. Overnight train to Hue. |
| 9 | Explore Hue, Perfume River cruise. |
| 10-11 | Drive to Hoi An and enjoy a walking tour. Free day in Hoi An. |
| 12 | Drive to Quy Nhon, via My Lai. |
| 13-14 | Drive to Nha Trang. Full day boat trip around islands, with snorkelling. |
| 15 | Visit sand dunes and relax on beach at Mui Ne. |
| 16-17 | Drive to Saigon. City tour, visit to Cu Chi Tunnels. |
| 18 | Trip ends in Saigon this morning (Fri). |

Our leader Thuy was a competent guide and organiser. His english speaking and comprehension ability is very good and he seems to understand Australians well. He was personable without being too familiar. Given the long periods spent on the road, he could possibly consider increasing the frequency of his commentary on sights and activity taking place. For most it is a new experience.
