In May of this year, Expedition crew members Woody and Annie, who are more at home in the polar regions, joined one of Peregrine’s Galapagos voyages.
In May 2011, Woody and Annie will be returning with Peregrine to the Galapagos and we invite you to join them on one of three ‘escorted voyages’ to one of Earth’s great wildlife extravaganzas.
Onboard our vessel the M.Y. San Jose passengers will be treated to a very special experience. Underwater, on land and in the air, the Galapagos presents a simply staggering portrait of nature at its greatest.
We'll explore the archipelago by boat and on foot looking out for; Giant tortoises, an icon of the islands, marine and land iguanas, sea lions, waved albatross, as well as the fourteen species of finch, which helped Darwin refine his views on evolution. There will be opportunities to swim and snorkel; catching sight of penguins, sharks and a rainbow of tropical fish while sea lions dart towards you, bold as brass and hoping to play.
Back on the boat, and dolphins surf the bow waves while blue-footed boobies make their plummeting dives into the waters and frigatebirds wait, ready to commit their spectacular acts of aerial piracy. When you walk down the main street in Puerto Ayora, the archipelago’s largest town, and see pelicans and sea lions, you know you’re somewhere that has a glorious abundance of wildlife!
Reminders of Antarctica are plentiful, penguins, fur seals and albatross, so for those who have visited the polar regions, we think you’ll feel at home.
The 10-day Galapagos in Depth voyage with Woody & Annie onboard as special guests will depart 9-18 May, 16-25 May 2011 and 23 May-1 June 2011.
