Why you'll love this trip

  • View the spectacular Greenland Ice Sheet from above during a helicopter experience, with glaciology experts on hand to help explain the environment and its significance.

  • Venture deep into Southern Greenland’s extensive fjord and mountain system to discover fields of tundra, grazing wildlife and peaks sprinkled with year-round snow.

  • Rely on your expert expedition crew to set course for the most remote wilderness and unforgettable landing sites, learning more about the region at onboard lectures.

  • Consider a range of optional activities to further enhance your time in Greenland, including glacial kayak experiences and heli-hiking adventures.

  • After a busy day of Zodiac cruises, hikes and helicopter flights, retire to your well-appointed stateroom and state-of-the-art ship with comfortable lounging areas and modern health and wellness facilities.

Is this trip right for you?

  • You will be supplied with an expedition parka and waterproof boots that are sturdy and warm. Please see the ‘Packing’ section of the Essential Trip Information for a detailed guide on what to bring with you.

  • On this journey, you will climb in and out of small Zodiac boats quite regularly to explore and search for wildlife. It can get very cold and wet on the Zodiac.

  • Sturdy sea legs are needed for wet and dry landings by Zodiac, and you will hike on steep terrain, snow and other uneven surfaces.

  • The weather plays a pivotal part in this adventure and, although there’s an itinerary in place, there are no guarantees that you’ll be able to do everything that is planned for. A level of flexibility and openness to embracing the unexpected are important in expedition travel, especially in such a remote area.

Welcome to Reykjavik – the capital of Iceland. This afternoon, you will be boarding a charter flight to Greenland with Air Iceland at Reykjavik–Keflavik Airport, so please arrive at the airport by 3 pm to allow time for check-in and security procedures. Your flight is bound for Narsarsuaq, and on a clear day, the views from the plane on descent are stunning. Once arrived, board your vessel, settle into your stateroom and meet your expedition crew before embarking this evening.

Special Information
There will be a representative at Reykjavik–Keflavik Airport to answer any questions you have about your flight to Narsarsuaq.
The next six days are dedicated to exploring the remote reaches of Greenland’s southern shores. While there is a tentative route set, your expert crew will ensure the best itinerary is followed so that your expedition will maximise shore landings and wildlife spotting. During this time, cruise through rugged fjords, past glacial waterfalls and snow-capped peaks and to bays dotted with floating icebergs. You will explore the region by Zodiac boat, allowing you to hug the coastline and get as close as possible to ice shelves with walruses basking and polar bears roaming. Weather and ice conditions permitting, your expedition will take advantage of the ship’s fleet of twin-engine helicopters for sightseeing and shore landing experiences otherwise inaccessible. You will go deep in the icy wilderness and set out on hikes for all skill levels. Luckily for you, each day will be different; however, the expedition team will endeavour to explore the best of Narsarsuaq, Tasermiut and Lindenow.
