Map of Cruising Thailand & Malaysia Southbound: Phuket to Penang including Malaysia and Thailand

Take an island-hopping voyage through Malaysia and Thailand.

The spoils of Thailand and Malaysia are no secret, but this Adventure Cruise proves there’s always more to discover. Visit hidden waterfalls tucked into the jungle, swim by vibrant coral reefs in crystal-clear waters, dine on delicious local meals with an onboard crew and have plenty of time to experience this coast at your own pace. Ko Phayam, Surin Tai and Khao Lak offer all the hallmarks of Thailand’s idyllic south – the warm blue-green Andaman Sea, blinding white sands and marvellous limestone oddities – without the glitz and bustle of mainland Phuket. Cruise by Ko Rok Noi, Ko Yao Yai, Ao Nang and Langkawi, dine and share stories with locals in small villages, explore jungle and boulder-studded shorelines and swim and snorkel the afternoons away.

Why you'll love this trip

  • Admire the clear blue waters, striking coral reefs and lush rainforests of the Tarutao Marine Park in Ko Tarutao. Snorkelling, diving, stand-up paddle boarding – how you explore is up to you.

  • With a free day at Ao Nang in Krabi province, choose you own personalised adventure, with cooking classes, kayaking experiences, local village visits and beach activities all on offer.

  • You half board meal plan not only allows you indulge in fine cuisine on board, but you’ll also have the chance to eat at local restaurants in town, discovering the region’s best specialties.

  • Take local transport from your small cruise ship to the Telaga Tujuh Waterfall in Langkawi – searching for the stunning cascades that will arise from the depths of the island’s rainforest.

  • Get to know Malaysia on foot with a guided walking tour around the Old Town of Penang – full of colonial-era architecture, vibrant market vendors and delectable local food.

Is this trip right for you?

  • This is a small ship Adventure Cruise, which means you’ll be sailing on a motorised yacht with 30–50 other people. The boat is spacious and comfortable, but this cruise focuses more on the destination than on-board activities. Instead of a pool, we have the sea itself. Instead of a casino, we’ve got board games and a good book. There’s also no formal dress code to worry about. Wi-Fi is available for a small charge.

  • Our ship moves under engine power, rather than sailing, so all cabins will experience light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when we drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

  • Most of our departures run in peak season, when the seas are calmer. The ship will experience some roll and pitch in choppy conditions, however all of our ships come equipped with stabilisers to minimise movement. There will be seasickness tablets on board and your crew will do all they can to minimise any discomfort.

  • There are no lifts (elevators) on board our ships, so you’ll have to navigate a few steep flights of stairs (fitted with handrails) to access all the decks.
