Why you'll love this trip
-
The enchanting old Jewish neighbourhood of Santa Cruz makes for the perfect base in Seville. Lose yourself in the narrow cobblestone lanes and visit the stunning Alcazar
-
Visit the spectacular mountain-top village of Zahara de la Sierra and enjoy an olive oil tasting at a local family-run mill
-
Granada is a city like no other. Explore the outstanding Alhambra Palace, wander through the mythic Moorish quarter and feast on the city's world-renowned cuisine – all with the benefit of insider knowledge
-
Enjoy a tasting and talk about the local beers and Iberico ham from the owner of a local deli. This little show is offered exclusively to our group.
-
There's flexibility. In Grazalema, you can venture into the hills in search of eagles and mountain goats, or choose to stay and relax in this gorgeous Andalucian hill village
-
Visit ´Molino El Vinculo´, a traditional, family-run ‘cold’ olive oil mill for a demonstration and tasting.
-
Spend a night in Ronda, one of Spain's oldest towns, and see why the likes of Hemingway and Dumas sang the praises of this cliff-perched beauty
-
Hotel Don Miguel overlooks the gorge in Ronda. Enjoy your feature stay night with the views and elegance.
-
Reveal the history of the flamenco – a unique style of dance ingrained within Spanish culture and musical heritage
Is this trip right for you?
-
A good level of physical fitness will allow you to get the most out of this trip. There is a significant amount of walking involved, with some slopes, steps and hills. Some of these walks, such as in Grazalema National Park, however, are optional.
-
Summer temperatures can be extreme in this region (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat, and drink plenty of water. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
-
It's important not to exceed the luggage weight and size recommendations. You can find this information in the 'What to Take' section of the trip notes.
-
As accommodation on this trip is twin-share, single travellers will share a room with another traveller of the same sex. If you’d prefer not to share, a single room supplement is often available at an additional charge. Note that some hotels in Europe don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together.

Trails of Andalucia, September 2017

Do read about your chosen destination before you go. Understanding something of the local culture and being sensitive to mores and cultural norms different to your own is important. Some group members did not always display understanding and sensitivity. Humour is often very culturally specific. Some humour may be seen as offensive. I think Peregrine could emphasise this more.

Our 'Highlights of Southern Spain & Morocco' delivered rich goods. We had 15 days of enthralling things to do, see and experience. What's more, there was great variety in experiences offered, hiking in the sierras, local food, brilliant Moorish architecture, flamenco, snake charmers - phew!
