Is this trip right for you?
-
Don’t let the heat keep you from exploring the world! The heat can be challenging in South East Asia. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat, and drink plenty of water. Be sure to dress accordingly and stay hydrated, especially in April and May. Please note that average temperatures vary greatly between the north and south of Vietnam. While there is no best time of year to travel, it's best to check the seasonal patterns on our country information page, to gauge what the weather will be like and to pack accordingly.
-
South East Asia is a large region, and so, there are some long drives on this trip. It’s all part of the adventure and a great way to get to know your fellow travellers. Many of these journeys, also, offer beautiful scenery and interesting snapshots of rural and mountain life. Please read the itinerary carefully for travel time estimates.
-
Part of travelling with Peregrine means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. That way you get the most out of your interactions with local people and environments. You will visit a number of temples which requires a level of modesty. You will need to bring clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees for all genders. A light scarf or long sleeve shirt is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
-
Laos is a beautifully laid-back destination, but it's also less developed than most in South East Asia, so a little bit of patience goes a long way. Roads may be bumpy and journeys may take longer than expected.
-
Please ensure you bring sturdy walking shoes and comfortable clothes. There are a number of days when you’ll spend time walking around sites or on tours.
-
This trip includes a cycling tour around Sukhothai Heritage Park, so a level of confidence on a bicycle will be required. The roads are quiet with minimal traffic and within the confines of the park it will be easy going so it is certainly a leisurely ride.
-
This trip includes a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels. The majority of the visit is above ground, but you will have the option to go inside the tunnels at the end of the visit. If you are likely to feel claustrophobic, going inside the tunnels might be best avoided.
