Take a festive journey through Ukraine, from historical Lviv to the rolling hills of the Carpathian Mountains.
From the cobbled streets of Lviv, travel to the furthest edges of Western Ukraine to experience a snowy Orthodox Christmas in the highlands. As scenic as it is remote, travelling into the Carpathian Mountains feels like a true adventure. With difficult territory providing protection from the reaches of much USSR policy, the Hutsul people who live here remain remarkably traditional in dress and custom. You’ll get to spend an Orthodox Christmas eating, drinking and living with the locals in a traditional farmhouse, joining them for symbolic feasts and market trips.

Is this trip right for you?
-
This trip is new to our range this year. And while we have thoroughly researched every detail of the logistics, new destinations can sometimes throw us some unexpected surprises. More often than not, it’ll be a great surprise. But every now and again there might be a hiccup. We like to think that’s what puts the ‘adventure’ in ‘adventure travel’.
-
Ukraine in January is very cold, particularly in the mountain regions we'll be travelling through. While the sight of powdery snow on hillsides is stunning, you'll need to pack clothing that is appropriate for an environment where temperatures can reach -5˚C or below.
-
Our accommodation in the Carpathian Mountains is basic, but comfortable and most importantly warm. The group will be spread across a number of cabins, a short walk from the main building where meals will be served. Single travellers will be sharing accommodation with another traveller of the same sex. If you'd prefer a single room, a supplement is available at an additional charge. Please ask your travel consultant for more details. Accommodation in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together/apart.
