Idyllic beaches and untouched rainforests backed by limestone cliffs – Thailand’s scenery really is cruising perfection.
Thailand’s western coastline is the ultimate in remote island escapes. While it has its fair-share of high-end tourist centres, it’s the hidden archipelagos tucked away from the droves of holidaymakers that make the Thai seas worth navigating. As beautiful as Phuket and Ao Nang may be, you’ll never struggle to find a spot on the beaches of Ko Yao Yai or Ko Rok Noi. Spot tropical fish amongst the secluded reefs of Tarutao National Marine Park, and explore the jungles and limestone cliffs of the Krabi province. If you’re lucky, the waters will be all your own, without another boat in sight.

Highlights of Thailand
Explore the islands of Tarutao National Marine Park
In the Strait of Malacca off the southern coast of Thailand lie the 51 islands of Tarutao National Marine Park. Considered one of Thailand’s most beautiful and unspoiled regions, the islands provide incredible beaches and snorkelling opportunities. This area is a must-see for wildlife lovers, with langurs, macaques, fishing cats and sea otters on display in their natural habitats.
Go snorkelling in the Surin Island
The Andaman Sea is bursting with coral reefs, and the swimming and snorkelling doesn’t get much better than in the Surin Islands. Adding the allure of this well-kept secret are the seafaring Moken locals, famous for their ability to hold their breath underwater for minutes on end while out searching for shellfish and eels.
Meet the local community on Ko Yao Yai
Ko Yao Yai in the Andaman Sea is one of those places where eternity feels too short a stay. Imagine Phuket before the tourism industry got a hold of it, and you’re coming close. You’ll get the chance to explore the island and spend time with the locals working to keep the beaches and jungles paradise-like and free of developers.
