Why you'll love this trip
-
Learn from Antarctic experts in marine biology, glaciology and history in a comprehensive lecture program and, depending on your voyage date, revered Australian media personalities Andrew Denton and Jennifer Byrne may join you on the expedition and take part in the presentation program.
-
With four full days dedicated to exploring the Antarctic Peninsula, you will experience multiple Zodiac excursions and shore landings, getting up close and personal with the icy wilderness and unique wildlife.
-
Enjoy the freedom to customise your trip with a wide range of optional activities, including kayaking expeditions, a photography masterclass, onboard yoga and massage, or an overnight camping experience.
-
Appreciate a greater personal touch, with each Peregrine expedition aboard the Ocean Endeavour having a favourable ratio of one expedition crew member for every eight passengers.
-
Rest assured you will leave only footprints behind, with your expedition fully carbon offset, serving only sustainably sourced seafood and opting for biodegradable products over single-use plastics.
Is this trip right for you?
-
If you choose to book on the 22 November 2020 departure, you will be joined on board by award-winning Australian media personalities Andrew Denton and Jennifer Byrne. Denton is a revered interviewer, notably conducting poignant and in-depth discussions with the likes of Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Dr Jane Goodall, Michael Parkinson, Angelina Jolie, Madonna and numerous Australian personalities. He is a passionate advocate for Antarctica, having visited on multiple occasions. Byrne is a highly experienced media professional, working on Australian radio and television as a presenter, investigative journalist and foreign correspondent. Both Byrne and Denton will participate in the onboard presentation program on this voyage.

Although our ice-strengthened ships are big and sturdy, Antarctic waters can be unpredictable and rough. Some people may experience seasickness, especially through the Drake Passage and other open water crossings. Please be prepared with medications to combat this. There is also a doctor on board should you need further assistance.
-
As you’d expect, temperatures in the Antarctic can be freezing. We provide you with waterproof boots that are sturdy and warm. Please see the ‘Packing’ section of the Essential Trip Information for details on what you will need to bring with you.
-
Weather depending, you will be making regular excursions in a Zodiac boat to explore the local area and look for wildlife. It can get very cold and wet on the Zodiac, so make sure you are dressed appropriately and that you keep your camera safe and dry. Sturdy sea legs are needed as you make wet and dry landings from the boat, and on steep terrain, snow and other uneven surfaces. Some ships have a lot of stairs, so please hold on to the handrails if seas are rough.
-
The weather plays a pivotal part in this adventure and although there’s an itinerary in place, there are no guarantees that you’ll be able to do everything that is planned for. A level of flexibility and openness to embracing the unexpected are important in expedition travel, especially to such a remote area. Keep in mind the landing sites listed in the itinerary may change. The wellness centre, onboard library and educational lectures are ideal ways for keeping entertained during downtime.

Ocean Endeavour
The Ocean Endeavour is a far cry from the expedition vessels of old and, just quietly, we're tipping it’s the place be in the 2021 Antarctic season.
