Why you'll love this trip

  • Travel to the earth’s northernmost point and feel the rush of standing on top of the world – 90 degrees North.

  • Explore Franz Josef Land on your return journey. Cruise past icebergs, discover remote seabird colonies and see the historic remains of ill-fated arctic expeditions.

  • Get a bird-eye-view of the Arctic with included excursions on the onboard helicopter or an optional hot air balloon ride over the North Pole.

  • Travelling in one of the earth’s most remote reaches offers the chance to spot rare wildlife like polar bears, walruses, minke and humpback whales.

  • Travel on legendary nuclear-powered icebreaker the 50 Years of Victory with a full expedition crew and onboard staff to look after your every need.

Is this trip right for you?

  • As you’d expect, temperatures in the Arctic are freezing. A warm parka will be provided along with waterproof boots and unlimited hot drinks, but please see the 'Packing' section of the Essential Trip Information for further important details on what to bring.

  • While this trip is not physically demanding, you will need to be mobile enough to walk up and down stairs between decks, make wet and dry landings by Zodiac and walk over sometimes rough terrain.

  • The weather plays a pivotal part in this adventure and although there’s an itinerary in place, there are no guarantees that you’ll be able to do everything that is planned for. A level of flexibility and openness to embracing the unexpected are important in expedition travel, especially to such a remote area.

  • This trip takes places during the time of year that parts of the Arctic enjoy 24-hour daylight. This means wildlife sightings can happen at any time of the day – be prepared to be roused at all times if the team spot anything interesting!
