Explore the coast of Portugal, from Lisbon to Porto then soak up the sultry south on an eclectic Adventure Cruise along the coasts of Portugal, Spain and Morocco.
No longer Europe’s best kept secret, Portugal is the place to come for a European holiday with a twist. Full of grand cities, medieval villages and World Heritage sites, this is a charming country. Travel to Portimao for a day exploring the coastal caves before boarding the stylish Harmony V and discover the wonders of this coast. Learn Columbus’ history in Huelva then voyage to Seville to take in the world’s largest gothic cathedral. Onwards to Morocco for a tour of Tangier’s medina and a taste of mint tea before visiting famous Chefchaouen, the blue-washed city below the rocky Rif Mountains. Drop anchor in Puerto Banas to explore Ronda – dramatically set on top of a deep gorge – and dock finally in Malaga. With the flexibility to choose between cultural activities and sun-soaked leisure, this is a great choice for those wanting to experience the Iberian lifestyle and a dash of Morocco.

Is this trip right for you?
-
On this trip you will visit a lot of interesting places and you will discover them predominantly on foot. That means you’ll be expected to walk for, often, most of the day which will be tiring in hilly Portugal. Good, comfortable pair of walking shoes will definitely help!
-
Summer temperatures can be very high in this region (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat, and drink plenty of water. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.
-
As accommodation on this trip is twin-share, single travellers will share a room with another traveller of the same sex. If you’d prefer not to share, a single room supplement is available at an additional charge. Please ask your travel consultant for more details. Also, hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together and rooms in Europe can seem rather small by American or Australian standards.
-
Cobblestones are common in Portuguese cities and so in that case you may prefer to bring a backpack instead of rigid wheelie suitcase. It's also important not to exceed the luggage weight and size recommendations. You can find this information in the 'What to Take' section of the trip notes.
-
This is a small ship adventure cruise, which means you’ll be sailing on a yacht with 30–50 other people. The boat is spacious and comfortable, but it focuses more on the destination than onboard activities. Instead of a pool, we have the sea itself. Instead of a casino, we’ve got board games and a good book. There’s also no formal dress code to worry about. Wi-Fi is available for a small charge.
-
Our ship moves under engine power, rather than sailing, so all cabins will experience light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when we drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
-
Onshore activities and excursions will involve a bit of walking. You’ll be visiting ancient sites and historical places, and at times you may have to cross cobbled streets and uneven ground, sometimes in hot conditions. If you have any concerns, please speak to your group leader before taking part.
-
If you’re concerned about seasickness, there are seasickness tablets on-board. The ship will experience some roll and pitch in choppy conditions, however all of our ships come equipped with stabilisers to minimise movement. Most of our departures run in peak season, when the seas are calmer. Your crew will do all they can to minimise any discomfort.
-
There are no lifts (elevators) on-board our ships, so you’ll have to navigate a few steep flights of stairs. Handrails are always available.
