White sand beaches, crystal clear waters and jungled hills – the Seychelles ticks all the boxes of a tropical island paradise.
Many places claim to have the world’s best beaches, but those in the Seychelles truly stand above the rest. Anse Source d’Argent and Anse Lazio are among the most popular, but since the Seychelles is an archipelago of more than a hundred islands scattered off the east coast of Africa, there are dozens more that you can often have all to yourself. If you can pry yourself away from the beach, you’ll quickly learn why the Seychelles is frequently touted the Galapagos of the Indian Ocean – find World Heritage nature reserves, stunning wildlife and colourful coral reefs and marine life. There’s no better way to discover the treasures hidden within this stunning archipelago than by cruising the warm waters that surround it.

Highlights of Seychelles
Hike mangrove forests on Curieuse Island
Called the Red Island until 1768 because of its red-coloured soil, Curieuse is brimming with unique and oversized biodiversity. Follow nature trails that wind across the uninhabited island and see large, unusually shaped coco de mer nuts, giant tortoises and gorgeous mangrove forests, as well as the ruins of a former leper colony.
Go birdwatching on Cousin Island
Previously a coconut plantation, Cousin Island was transformed into a nature reserve and is now a haven for birdlife and an important breeding site for hawksbill turtles. Keep an eye out for birds endemic to the Seychelles, like the warbler and magpie robin, while strolling this restored ecosystem.
Swim and snorkel at Anse Source d’Argent
While every beach in the Seychelles is spectacular, Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue is consistently rated one of the most beautiful in the world. And it’s no wonder, given the soft white sands fringed with palm trees and unusual boulders that tumble into clear turquoise waters. The underwater views are just as stunning, ripe with coral reefs and colourful fish.
